What's The Hype Around Shilajit?

What's The Hype Around Shilajit?

Shilajit is not a supplement you are going to find in just anyones supplement closet. It's one of those supplements that is the secret underground stuff that the "real" seasoned wellness people are taking, and that's for many reasons.

Shilajit is an organic mineral compound formed from thousands of years of organic matter decomposition in the Himalayan mountains. It's the mineral supplement of all mineral supplements.

Our Zuma High Himalayan Shilijit is from an exclusive source that harvests rare high-mountain shilajit from a location 16,000 ft above sea level. It's top notch and lab tested for heavy metals. I prefer this one not just for it's quality but the fact that is also has a touch of organic honey for flavor.

The major deterrent for Shilajit is it's taste. As powerful as it is for the body, it comes with a pretty intense taste that most people (like myself) takes some masking and quick gulps where others say it doesn't taste like anything. It may be because you do get used to it after a while. It's been nicknamed the "Destroyer of Weakness" and I truly feel it's because of the taste, it's not for the weak. But don't let that deter you, it's an ELITE supplement.

So what are the potential benefits exactly? and who is this for?

Well for starters I'm already a fan of Trace Minerals but this is for those of you looking for more KICK, more INTENSITY, MORE MINERALS (because you actually cannot get enough).

If you struggle with any of the below, Shilajit may be for you:

  • chronic fatigue
  • postpartum depletion
  • brain fog
  • migraines
  • loss of appetite
  • hair loss
  • poor gut health/constipation

Shilajit can help support energy levels, detoxification like for heavy metals and mineral deficiencies. I usually recommend it to women looking for preconception, prenatal and postpartum help but definitely ease into it and consult your practitioner. It's also just amazing for any of the above if you suspect thyroid issues, stress related issues or nutrient deficiencies.

How to take Shilajit? There are really no rules, many people take it straight down the hatch, others in water with some lemon, I prefer it with hot water and lemon like a tea, and it can also put it in juice. It's typically taken in the morning to encourage healthy energy levels.

Are there any side effects to Shilajit? There can be side effects to any new supplement that you take. That's why I always suggest starting with a half dose away from other supplements you are currently taking and slowly increase the dose over the course of a couple days based on how you feel.

As always consult with a healthcare professional before starting new supplements.
